AURORA, Colo. – Police in Aurora are looking into what seems to be a murder-suicide case that occurred on Sunday evening at General’s Park which ultimately resulted in the deaths of two men, while a woman was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The APD has reported that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman in a car. At approximately 5:30 PM, Aurora911 received a call regarding the matter, which caused officers to be alerted. While the officers were responding to the report, shots were fired. When the police arrived, they located a 31-year-old male and a 63-year-old male who were both shot.
Sadly, the younger person died on the scene and the older man of the household was taken to the clinic but unfortunately passed away due to the severity of the condition. As per standard protocol, the Adams County Coroner’s Office shall share the names of the deceased parties after the next of kin has been properly informed.
Initial Investigations Suggest Murder-Suicide
The APD contemplates that the 31-year-old male and the older gentleman were involved in a disagreement which led to one shooting the other and then taking his own life. So far, the department has refrained from giving any information on the suspected shooter’s identity.
Following the initial report of domestic violence, the woman mentioned in the report was also admitted to a medical facility. As of now, there are no reports of injuries sustained by her in the shooting. Any further information about her condition and the injuries is not known.
At this point, it remains unclear whether the police had discovered the weapon that was supposedly used or whether any domestic violence incidents had occurred between the two involved in the situation.
Further Action Required
The APD is pursuing investigations of the shooting that occurred. They are working to uncover the nature of the connections between the people engaged in the incident and the intended purpose of the act.
In other developments, authorities are asking the public to volunteer any pertinent information they may have. Crime Stoppers of Metro Denver is willing to accept anonymous information at 720-913-STOP (7867) which makes the informant eligible to receive a reward of 2000 dollars.
